2018 in Fiji

What can do you in Fiji in 2018?  Moving to Fiji can be a daunting.  “What can I do there?” is a question we often get asked.  Find Your Feet can help identify the different aspects of Fiji and how to access them.  There has a been a lot of information about new ventures in Fiji for 2018, so it’s a great time to try something new or try something you are used to doing, but in a whole new (hot) environment.

Sport in Fiji

Victoria Park Tennis courts
National Aquatic Centre 50m pool (also has a 25m pool)

First of all there is a variety of sporting facilities and sport clubs in Fiji.  Find Your Feet can help identify the best fit for you.  We can advise what equipment might be sought in Fiji and where to buy it.  In addition we can advise what is best sought overseas.  An example is you can get a mouth guard very easily in Fiji (for Hockey or Rugby etc) even in different sizes (children and adult) but you are best to bring in your inner tubes for cycling from overseas.

Some of the sports in Fiji are: Diving, Netball, Rugby, Swimming, Cycling, Athletics, Gymnastics, Running, Sailing, Boxing, Martial Arts, Table Tennis, Badminton, Archery, Golf, Surfing, Target Shooting, Hockey, Sailing, Tennis, Squash, Yoga, Cricket, Lawn Bowling and the list goes on.

Fiji Sports Council has 19 Facilities around Viti Levu (Fiji’s largest island).  In addition to these listed, there are a number of other facilities and we can help find the closest one to you.

Fiji Social

There are a number of groups in Fiji who meet regularly and get involved socially.  Find Your Feet can help you navigate which groups meet where and when and even take you along to introduce you for the first time.  Working out your routine based on interests and commitments we can help you link in with other people with similar interests.

Some groups are: International Women’s Association (IWA) Fiji; Corona; Fiji Rucksack Club; Hash House Harriers (after my first Hash run this week I’m not sure if I should be putting this under “social” or “sport”!  Clubs are in Lautoka, Nadi, Pacific Harbour, Suva) Rotary – there are a number of Rotary Clubs across Fiji who do amazing work in the country.

Clubs in Fiji

Apart from the groups under Fiji Social, there are physical clubs that come with a Clubhouse building.  You don’t have to own a boat to become a member of the Yacht Clubs in Suva or Vuda Marina.  You can enjoy their facilities as a casual guest.  They welcome memberships from non-boat owners too.  Other clubs with Clubhouses include: Fiji Club, Defence Club; Lawn Tennis Club; Lawn Bowling Club.

Relaxing in Fiji

When it’s time to relax then you can always find good local deals for a weekend away or a longer holiday.  We try to provide some of the latest local specials when available.  Qualifying for a local rate means you will have to be a Fiji Resident, showing your Fiji Drivers Licence will suffice.  When living in Fiji managing to see the other side of Fiji away from the coast, we recommend trying Talanoa Treks, waterfall walks & river crossings as well as village visits and some serious scenery gives you a great insight to the real Fiji.
